Forest roads can impact stream hydrology through rerouting of water. This can lead to shallow rapid landslides and delivery of fine sediments to the stream/river. These finer sediments can wash down from forest roads into spawning streams, disrupting and endangering the survival of incubating fish.
For this project I built a geoprocessing workflow model to assess forest road condition in sub-watersheds of the Stillaguamish River Watershed. The number of road-stream crossings is one indicator of the impact that forest roads have on streams because road-stream |
